We, the members of Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church, have received, the word of the Lord as the supreme gift from which many of our blessings of faith and life have come to us. We accept our Lutheran heritage of faith which the pioneers of our area have passed on to us in the building of our Christian congregation, and we celebrate with them and all Christians, the treasure of our Lord's Church. As the people of God, partners in the community of saints, we commit ourselves as the living message of Christ in the world. Our congregation is more than a physical building; we are an assembly of living stones that are called individually, and as a congregation, to daily living the Gospel of the Lord, inspired and counseled by the Lord's Holy Spirit. We, therefore, reach out, to share this gift of faith. As Christians, we are called to faithful witness and service: the mission to which all of Gods people have been called. This call has local, national, and international dimensions. Because we have been blessed, we wish to continue in fellowship with our Lord to be the source of blessings to others. We hear our brothers and sisters crying out, hurting, and seeking our help in obtaining true worth, dignity, and meaning in life. We will not wait for others to proclaim and provide assistance or justice. We will seek to be a message and benediction to others who will know that is means to be surrounded by the forgiving, unbounding grace and love of the Lord. And, because the Lord has provided us with the abundance of an agricultural community, we will be guardians of these gifts of God and use them responsibly as part of our daily reverence to our Lord. Thus, according to the will of God, we will equip the saints within our fellowship so that we may all lead a life worthy of our calling in Christ, and be supportive of others. We proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our Lord, in Word and Sacrament. We believe that our. salvation comes to us as a gift of the Lord because He loves us. His great commission to reach out to the world with His message is of primary importance to us. While growing in our commitment to our Lord, knowing the Lord's resurrection is the first fruits of promise, we will likewise bring before the Lord, in our sacrificial giving, our personal variety of talents and gifts and experiences for the blessing and unity of the congregation and its mission to all people to join with us, as sinners and saints, in the fellowship of Christ, and His Church. We extend the invitation to others to be part of our hopes, labors, and joys. We prayerfully hope the members of the congregation and friends who will experience being loved - will love, being served - will serve, and being blessed - will be bless, and that they will find rich and rewarding fellowship. Then together we must seek to live our live in such a way that others can see that the message we confess is true. SUMMARY MISSION STATEMENT |
